About
My passion for photography bloomed in college when I started using it as a scapegoat from my science classes. While I felt caged spending long hours in science labs, I found myself liberated and longing for more time in the dark room. For a while I photographed landscapes and inanimate objects until I took up studying large format photography. Having to take much longer to set up and seeing the world upside down through a large format camera pushed me out of my comfort zone into taking control over my shooting sets and subjects, and so my love for portraits started to grow. From simple headshots to candids to more artistic portraiture I aimed to capture person’s essence, character, and feelings. Shooting different types of portraits allowed me to explore both natural and studio lighting as well as challenged me to creatively showcase inanimate objects (products).
As my passion for photography grew, so did my forgotten love for dance. And what a better way to fuse the two than capturing dancers in motion? Specifically, I love photographing dancers during their freestyle; during their most comfortable form of dance, when showcasing perfect technique and achieving best extensions are not being forced on and freedom of movement and self-expression enters. Just like with portraiture, my goal with dance photography is to capture the character of the dancer (though occasional backflips, firebirds and grand jeté jumps do not hurt!).
Today I specialize in dance photography, but I am also passionate about portrait, engagement, maternity, wedding, headshot, fashion, product and fitness photography. Each of them allows me to explore different side of my creativity, as well as capture moments that will be treasured for a lifetime.
